You are, my friend. Read more to find out why....
It stuck me the other day that I'm so much more than my job. Yes, I'm an author. I get to write amazing stories that I make up in my head, while I sit here clacking away at my keyboard.
I also get to be a wife, a mom, a friend, a daughter, a sister, a mentor, a role model.... as women, our labels start adding up, don't they?
My grandmother was an original Rosie the Riveter during the war. She used to tell me that the "good ones" could chew gum, have a conversation, and spit rivets at the same time. I wish I had a picture of her from that era to share with you, but they're all boxed up somewhere. (Picture a beautiful woman, decked out in work clothes, and getting it ALL DONE. She was wise, she was wonderful, she was no-nonsense, and she lived in what I consider a romantic era... the 40's. They were strong back then, because they had to be.
And guess what? We do, too.
For me personally, one of my sons is a recovering addict, the other is a Marine getting ready to be deployed, and my daughter struggles with anxiety. I struggle with anxiety. My job is hectic, my house is chaos... sound familiar?
I decided that I wanted to do something. I want to create a positive place in an online world that can sometimes be yucky. I want to share, and motivate and inspire. I want us all to work together to share what makes each of strong.
Because let's face it-- we rock. We really do. We hold it all together, we are the glue. We will not break. We will persevere, no matter what.
Let's do it together, shall we? Let's look at life as an opportunity to handle it with grace, to be strong... be women of steel.
