I've been doing a lot of thinking lately on the power of positive thinking... on INTENTIONAL thinking.
I remember once, years ago, my dad was giving me golf lessons. He was a golf pro, and he was a great teacher, so we'd go out in the heat and sweat and sweat. I would swing above the ball every time. My dad said, "That's a common problem with women. Women don't want to take the chance of hurting the course, and making divots."
Holy crap, ladies! How true is that? I think as women, we have some sort of genetic code that makes us want to CONSTRUCT (we build babies, for goodness sake!), and not DESTRUCT. To the point that we sometimes get afraid of making a mistake-- we don't want to hurt anything. We don't want to mess it up.
We don't want to create divots.
The great and powerful Oprah said something that stuck with me, and I think it's something we all need to remember.
"Think like a queen! A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is a stepping stone to greatness."
You know why? Because we learn from our failures. WE GROW from our failures, and become better human beings, more amazing moms, more loving wives. Failure is good. We just have to learn to look at it that way, and not live in fear of it.
My challenge to you is this: Don't be afraid today! Do something you've been nervous about. THINK LIKE A QUEEN!!
